A combination of parent interview, observation of functional performance, and standardized assessment is utilized in order to evaluate:

- Self-care activities
- Specialized equipment (wheelchairs, splints, other assistive devices)
- Fine motor activities (grasp and release)
- Initiating or completing tasks
- Visual motor or visual perceptual activities
- Eye-hand coordination (hitting a target, batting a ball, or copying)
- Sensory input/output
- Maintaining balance (sitting and standing, dynamic and static)
- Cognitive tasks: following instructions, problem solving and organization
- Gross motor delays
- Interacting and playing appropriately with other children
- Stretching and ROM (active and passive)
- Proper body positioning and proper body techniques (bracing, abduction pillows, knee immobilizers, wheelchair inserts, sitting recommendations, and handling techniques)
- Coordination
- Toe Walking
- Hypertonicity and hypotonicity
- Poor muscle strength
- Pragmatics fluency
